Note. Ruth Waterbury, wife of David Webb, b. 1736, their son Samuel, b. 1754. Was probably a near relative of Major General David Waterbury, b. 1722, who mar. Mary Maltbey, b. 1733, and mar. in 1758. They were of Stamford.

(Note. They were second cousins. Having moved from Branford, Rev. Jonathan had evidently lost track of this branch of the family).

IV.137. David Maltbie, Esqre., b. April 4, 1759 (David 3, Jonathan 2, Wm.1). Mar. Nov. 19, 1786, Nancy Davenport, b. Dec. 21, 1765, dau. of Silas and Mary (Webb) Davenport.

David Maltbie was sheriff of Fairfield County and a member of the Rutgers Street Church, New York.

His Rev. War Service is given in "Coll. of the Conn. Hist. Soc." Vol. 12, 1909).

"Return from 4th Brigade of Militia" "David Maleby, Stamford. Capt. S. Knap. Col. Mead.

Another record reads:

"Capt. Jonathan Whitney's Company. David Maltbie, discharged: Jan. 8, 1777. Served 1 month and 21 days. Ninth Regiment of Militia under General Wooster.

In 1776/77. Marched to Westchester border. The 9th Regt. had but lately returned from New York.

After the battle of White Plains, Oct. 28, 1776, the Assembly ordered the 9th, 10th, 13th and 16th Militia Regiments to march to Westchester border, and place themselves under General Wooster's command." (Rev. War Record, p. 485)

"Capt. Jonathan Whitney's Company. Caanan, Fairfield County." "David Maltbie, private, discharged Jan. 23, 1777. Service 1 month, 5 days." (1790 Census of United States)

     "David Maltbie.  Norwalk and Stamford. 
      2 males over 16 
      1 male under 16 
      1 female. 

Mrs. Annie C. Maltbie, Syracuse, N.Y., grand-daughter of David, wrote that in searching for Rev. War data, she found "a few days of service at the battle of Lexington, of Grandfather David."
