Lydia d. Mar. 28, 1812 (Ref. Saco Valley Settlers). Note. This date possibly was "March 1814." He married a third wife and he died Mar. 29, 1847, at Shoreham, Vermont.

According to Miss Mary A. Francisco (8) Lydia Maltby had four children.

Mr. Edward L. Baker writes: "I remember that my Aunt once told me years ago that her grandmother, Lydia Maltby, the wife of John S. Larabee, was married in Vershire, Vt. when twenty-seven and died when thirty seven. She left two living children: Sarah (Morris) and Martha Washington (Baker).

She was always frail and sensitive and when a young girl she had a lover, a Boston youth, to whom her parents objected. They kept her locked in her room three months so that she could not see him."

It seems impossible just to record this pitiful story and the inhuman treatment shown--but words fail the compiler to make any adequate comment. "Stranger, please pray for the peace and repose."
